Exactly 30 anniversary after the first Toy Story film debuted, establishing Pixar as a leading animation studio and introducing audiences to iconic characters like the cowboy doll (the actor) and Buzz Lightyear (the voice talent), who are now famous worldwide.

Coming in 2026, the fifth installment is scheduled for release. The first teaser trailer for Toy Story 5 appeared this week, offering a brief look into the storyline but keeping viewers curious how it will resolve the conclusion of Toy Story 4.

Bonnie's New Toy: A Frog-Shaped Tablet Spooks the Toys

In the teaser reveals the young girl — who received Andy's toys when he grew up — getting a brand new toy, one that alarms Woody, Buzz, and the crew. Bonnie acquires her initial digital gadget, and she is thrilled about it.

Theoretically, the amphibian-inspired device will animate just like Bonnie's other toys. Still, the toys appear to consider it as a danger coming to replace them, which it likely will.

Woody's Return: Unanswered Questions from Toy Story 4

One thing the teaser avoids is why the sheriff is back with his companions in Bonnie's room. The finale of Toy Story 4 depicted him embark on a fresh journey with Bo Peep (Annie Potts), traveling with a carnival and assisting prize toys find good homes.

Surely, Pixar will explain the consequences of Toy Story 4 in the movie. Witnessing him show up in the familiar setting unexpectedly is somewhat puzzling, however. It also raises questions whether his partner will have come back with Woody. And what about Duke Caboom (the star)?

Continuity from the Previous Film

At the very least, some elements are carrying over from the earlier movie. The last thing the cowboy did before setting off for his fresh path was hand over his sheriff badge to Jessie (the voice actor), entrusting her as the leader of Bonnie's bedroom. In the teaser displays the badge attached to her shirt.

It is hoped she is still the key figure among the group.

Toy Story 5 arrives in theaters on the scheduled date.
