The Streaming Platform is Developing a Far Cry TV Show from the Minds of the Alien Series and the Comedy Hit.

The most recent action-packed game that players explored was Far Cry 6, which showcased Giancarlo Esposito as the villain, Antón, and was released back in October 6, 2021. As a series, it is famous for embracing violence and madness with the same glee, all while presenting captivating, ideologically themed narratives. No wonder then that the network’s new order for a Far Cry limited-run show brought on board two creators whose work have represented all of those qualities.

Show Details

Inspired by Ubisoft's hit video game franchise, the self-contained anthology series is set to premiere on Hulu and be produced by FX Productions. The anthology will also mirror the video games' format by introducing a different setting and cast of characters in each season.

Executive Team

Rob Mac, producer of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Noah Hawley, the talent behind FX's Alien: Earth and Fargo, will serve as showrunners on the series under their labels, More Better Productions for Mac, and 26 Keys for Hawley. They will be accompanied by Emilia Serrano for 26 Keys, Nick Frenkel for 3 Arts, Jackie Cohn for More Better Productions, John Campisi, Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television.

The network enjoyed excellent relationships with Rob Mac and Noah Hawley for a combined six series and 32 seasons of television, and we are overjoyed that they are teaming up for Far Cry,” commented Nick Grad, President, FX Entertainment, in a statement. “I have no doubt that they will present this story in a way that is original, compelling, and wildly entertaining. We also want to appreciate our collaborators at Ubisoft for entrusting us with this cherished property.”

Upcoming Developments

Mac will also star in the show, but currently, we do not know what part that might entail. Hawley's Alien: Earth was just greenlit for another season, with FX and Disney finalizing a new long-term contract with the producer.

“Being able to collaborate alongside Noah Hawley is a fantasy come true,” remarked Rob Mac. “Ubisoft has been incredibly supportive, placing faith in us with one of the most iconic video-game universes ever created. And throughout this process, my FX team always encourages me with their ongoing belief and support.”

“What I love about the Far Cry game collection is that it’s an anthology-style series. Every title is a variation of a idea, the same way every series of Fargo is a version on a premise,” noted Hawley. “To develop a big action show that can shift from season to season, while always exploring the essence of humanity through this intricate and chaotic perspective, is a long-held aspiration. I’m eager to collaborate with Rob and present our common irreverent, daring sensibility to the screen.”

A schedule for when we can expect the new Far Cry show has not yet been revealed. The series will premiere on Hulu in the United States and on Disney Plus internationally.
