Former Doctor Charged with Assault Charges Against 38 Individuals in His Care
Prosecutors report that a former physician now faces charges for performing sexual assaults against 38 victims who were patients.
Details of the Serious Allegations
Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham faces allegations of dozens of acts of sexual assault – comprising some against children younger than 13 – spanning the period from 2017 to 2021.
A senior prosecutor commented, “Legal teams have worked at length to assist a thorough and intricate police inquiry, meticulously examining the evidence to determine that there is a strong case to bring the case to trial and that it is in the public interest.”
Scope of the Police Inquiry
The charges follow what police described as a “complex investigation” into alleged assaults at medical facilities: a hospital in Stoke-on-Trent and Russells Hall hospital.
The defendant is due to appear at the local magistrates' court on January 20th.

The charging documents outline the 45 charges include:
- 15 counts of sexual assault.
- Seventeen counts of penetrative assault.
- Nine counts of sexual assault of a child under 13.
- 3 counts of penetrative assault on a child under thirteen.
- 1 count of attempting to assault by penetration.
