“That was regrettable. That was kind of an interaction with Cowboys supporters out in front of us,” Jones explained during a radio appearance. “Present was a large group of Cowboys fans—not New York fans, our fans. The whole venue was brimming with excitement for the Cowboys.”
He further emphasized that the gesture was entirely accidental, happening amid the excitement following the team’s final touchdown. “I just put up the wrong finger,” he remarked. “It was accidentally performed. This is sincere. Should you call it accidental, you can. But it got resolved pretty quick.”

This is not the first time an league proprietor has been penalized for inappropriate behavior. Recent cases involve:
- Carolina Panthers owner David Tepper was fined $300,000 for tossing a beverage at spectators in early 2024.
