Chiefs State They Are Aware of Alleged Abuse Allegations Involving Player the Athlete

The NFL franchise issued a statement Wednesday night indicating they are aware of domestic violence allegations circulated in social media posts by a ex-partner of player Rashee Rice and had been in communication with the league office.

The team omitted the name of Rice by name in their statement and noted they would have “nothing more to add at this time”.

Dacoda Nichole Jones, who likewise did not name Rice by name, shared a set of images on social media that seemed to depict indicators of bodily harm. Jones stated the person involved was the parent of her kids, and it is known she has kids with the football player, whom the Chiefs drafted in the 2023 draft.

Police Reports Currently Unavailable

No official complaints were on file in the Kansas City suburb where the alleged abuse is said to have taken place.

Player's Prior Off-Field Troubles

Rice missed the initial part of this season due to an league-mandated ban for his role in instigating a multi-vehicle accident on a Texas roadway that left several individuals hurt. He was sentenced 30 days in jail and probationary supervision after pleading guilty to serious offenses.

On the field, Rice finished the year with 53 catches for 571 yards and five TDs as the Chiefs went 6-11 and missed the playoffs for the first time in a ten-year span.
