Both Deceased Students Revealed in the Ivy League School Incident as Law Enforcement Press On With Hunt for Killer.

Two students who lost their lives in Saturday’s violent attack in Providence were honored at the start of the week – while an intensive search for their shooter continued following the release by local law enforcement of the single suspect detained in connection in the case.

Tributes for Ella Cook

The young woman Ella Cook, a sophomore from Alabama, was remembered as “an amazing, stable, pious, radiant soul”, according to the Cathedral Church of the Advent, Birmingham, which paid tribute to her at a gathering on Sunday.

Her role included second-in-command of Brown’s branch of College Republicans of America, as the club stated. The White House press secretary also expressed sympathies publicly, stating: “Words cannot express. Remembering her kin and peers, above all her mom and dad.”

The Second Victim

The second fatality was an Uzbek national named MukhammadAziz Umurzokov, a citizen of Uzbekistan in his initial year at the renowned school, his family confirmed.

The victim's identification was confirmed by the foreign office of Uzbekistan.

“He possessed remarkable kindness, humor, and intelligence. He harbored grand aspirations of pursuing a career in neurosurgery and helping people,” his sibling Samira said in a tribute.

The Shooting Incident

Nine other people were hurt in the violent event in the engineering department of Brown’s campus in Providence, during the school’s final exam period.

Law enforcement reported by the end of Sunday that a man aged 24 taken into custody in a search at a lodging about approximately 17 miles from the campus earlier in the day was released from custody.

“There is a killer at large,” said the state's top prosecutor, Peter Neronha.

He added, “Sometimes you head in one direction, and then you must reassess and go in another, and this is precisely what occurred over the last 24 hours or so.”

Ongoing Concerns

Providence’s mayor, Brett Smiley, noted: “It is expected to provoke renewed concern for our public”.

The assailant opened fire inside a lecture hall in the engineering facility on Saturday, shooting over four dozen bullets from a handgun, a authority informed the Associated Press.

Officers that raided the lodging seized a pair of pistols and magazines when the person of interest was detained, as was reported.

Condition of the Injured

Of the nine hurt, a single scholar was released from the hospital, said Brown’s president, Christina Paxson. Seven others were in grave but unchanging health, and another was critically ill, police said on Sunday.

Durham Academy, a private academy in North Carolina, said Kendall Turner, Kendall Turner, was among those critically wounded.

More Condolences

Tributes were paid to Cook at a religious service in Birmingham on Sunday. A pastor commented, “She was an incredible, grounded, faithful bright light not only in her youth... but at the university she was a shining example in that particular place as well.”

A group leader, Martin Bertao, posted a statement from the group. “She was famed for her fearless, heroic, and gentle spirit as she worked for her branch and other students,” he said.

The US ambassador, Jonathan Henick, said he was “extremely sorrowful” by the passing of Umurzokov in a tribute. “We offer our heartfelt sympathies to Mr Umurzokov’s family, friends, and fellow students and lament the passing of his promising future.”

Saturday’s killings at Brown, the seventh oldest in the US higher education institution with about thousands of bachelor's and postgraduate students, occurred during one of at least 392 shooting incidents documented across the United States so far in the current year, according to statistics. Monday was the 349th day of the year.
